Reflection

I'm not going to reflect on what you want me to right now considering I don't find it relevant in the least. In fact, I don't find anything you're currently doing relevant. I'm not sure what it has to do with Media Productions but I'm sure you can find a way to make it relevant. Just the same I could show up dressed like Hitler and make that seem relevant to the course. I did not realize I had signed up for a life lessons seminar or a philosophy course.

I'm not so certain that using media to convey your personal feelings is exactly what you're supposed to be doing. Don't get me wrong, it's great that you think you have life figured out, but that doesn't mean that it's your responsibility to teach us how to live. Do you recall White Man's Burden? Where all the white people thought that everyone else was living wrong and took it upon themselves to "teach them how to live the correct way"? That's essentially what you're doing right now, not gonna lie.

All these Gandhi clips are pretty cool and all, I feel as though you think you're a lot like him. I say this considering the fact that you think you're right and you're being pretty passive about forcing it on us. I'm just saying Gandhi beat the shit out of his wife, you know. Just like Nelson Mandela led a terrorist group while he was in prison. You might be asking yourself, "what does this have to do with anything?"

Well I'm asking myself that same question

Happy Feet

The notion that the movie Happy Feet is anything other than innocent entertainment is absolutely idiotic. I personally love Happy Feet. Anyone who attacks Happy Feet that claims the producers have some sort of hidden agenda must be very insecure with their own beliefs. In fact, to attack Happy Feet shows that a person has nothing better to do with their time than over-analyze an animated children's film in the realm of insecurity of their own beliefs. It would be incredible to see someone with a structured, researched argument towards the conclusion that Happy Feet has a hidden agenda. Incredible in the sense that it would reflect that the person actually wastes time sitting around attacking animated children's films and labeling them as propaganda. Don't ever attack Happy Feet.
Don't watch Happy Feet, don't talk about Happy Feet, don't even think about Happy Feet; because anyone who makes such awful claims about one of my favourite movies does not deserve to partake in the fantastic entertainment it has to offer.

People who attack Happy Feet sound crazy, such as this

"What role does the media play in shaping our country and the minds of the people?"

The media has the largest role in shaping the minds of the people. The media has the ability to broadcast ideas to a large variety of people within a very large range. It impacts everyone in the sense that it becomes common knowledge. If you ask anyone how to save 15% or more on car insurance, they'll tell you to switch to Geico. It makes an impression on people, it sticks with them. So when you see a repetitive commercial that says something like, "Look like a model, buy this product.", you think not only do you need that product but you need it because you should look like a model. It instills ideas in our mind that we did have previously. Essentially the media has the ability to do whatever it wants. Like Republicans use the media to smear Democrats when in reality Democrats are the good guys. Not that people know that because Republicans are hell bent on destroying the Liberals. Anyway yeah media brainwashes people.

Response to your speech the other day about McDonald's workers.

Without the workers, the CEO of McDonald's would have nothing. The CEO of McDonald's currently makes about 9,200 dollars an hour. The CEO made 8.75 million dollars last year and you're telling me that it would be a crime for the workers to get paid more? As if the company can't afford to provide them with good pay. You say it's not fair to take money from people who have earned it. Sure I agree. However there are some people in this world who really didn't earn their money. Mitt Romney for instance. Did he really earn all the money he has? No, I don't think so. Mitt Romney is a terrible person who does nothing worthy of acquiring all the money that he has. Mitt Romney installed a $43,000 dollar car elevator in his home. The money that paid for that probably isn't even legal. What does Mitt Romney really do? Does he do some heavy labor? I don't think so. He lies, and he cheats, and he deceives people and he can do that because politicians are corrupt they can get away with it. Then you have people like my mother. My mother went to college to become a chef. She achieved that goal and was a chef for a while. Then she had children and had to give that up. She went to college a second time because she needed a good job to take care of the 4 kids she was raising as a single mother. No one in my family will argue that mother doesn't work harder than anyone. She's gone through bankruptcy and a lot of scares because she didn't have enough money. Going to college twice just barely got her a job that could get us by. With how hard she works, she should be making what Mitt Romney makes. But the world doesn't work that way. I grew up in a house where foodstamps are what kept us fed. There's nothing wrong with that. However I've seen the proof that it's really difficult to "just get a better paying job" as you said. I'm not trying to start any political arguments or anything. I can't even confirm my suspicions that your speech was politically based. I feel as though it is though because I know enough about politics to realize that you're a Republican. Which is totally fine. I'm just saying that I don't think it's really all that easy to just get a better paying job. CEOs and politicians are almost the same. They are dishonest and they 9/10 times do not deserve the position they're at. My dad works with a security company, and he works really hard too. He's probably the most honest and selfless person I know. He's a strong leader, and because of that he's actually climbing the ranks of the company pretty quickly. He's soon to be captain actually. However he's really not making that much money. With all the expenses he has to pay, which he doesn't mind paying, he's lucky if he gets to keep 40 dollars to himself with every paycheck. I believe that the McDonald's workers should get paid more. A lot of them deserve it. It's not even just the basic restaurant workers either. Even sales associates aren't making much more than what the regular crew members are making. Sure it's wrong to just take money from people who have really earned it. However most of the people making 9 million dollars a year are not earning it. I don't know I just got kind of bothered by that whole talk. Nothing against you as a teacher but I would kinda just appreciate it if we could maybe not discuss things involving politics during class.

Class Goal

"Our goal is to become lifelong learners that are resourceful, independent and creative.

We’ll demonstrate progress toward our goal by completing projects on time, using classroom and online resources to learn, and demonstrating proficiency in all of the skills necessary for success.

Our learning and improvement will be evidenced by a portfolio that shows proficient use of the skills taught in class.

Our final grade will be a reflection of our learning and improvement in the class.  "

I don't suppose I would necessarily change anything, it seems to be a solid goal that summarizes the point of being in this class in the first place.
Does it reflect my goal? No not really. I'm already pretty creative, that's all i really need. The goal for this class is to be involved in something that I already understand so that I can do well. Improvement is nice, but I already understand a lot of basic things about computers. I grew up in a house with my older brother who was very skilled in computers and I've learned a lot from him. I've been playing with photoshop since I was in the 6th grade and it's not difficult for me in the slightest. I'm just here to be good at something.

Little Red Hen

1. The little red hen was hungry and wanted some bread to eat.

2. The animals did not want to help her because they were not fond of the idea of working.

3. Then hen never baked again because she knew no one would help and she'd have to share the bread anyway

4. There is no difference.

This seems kind of like a story that bashes democrats and supports the republican party and being a democrat myself, if this is the case then that's kinda not cool

Monday, September 22, 2014

1. What is my role in learning?
My role in learning is to be attentive and gather the information provided to me.

2. What can I do to help in the learning process?
I can restrain from obstructing the learning environment and make sure that I do not interfere with the learning of others and/or myself

3. What is Mr. Larsen's role in the learning process?
Mr. Larsen is here to provide us with the previously mentioned information that I am obligated to collect and use in my day to day life when working in the area that the knowledge pertains to.

4. What can Mr. Larsen do to help the learning process?
Mr. Larsen, if he decides he wants to be very helpful in the process of learning, can make sure he is available as much as possible for reasonable questions and he can makes sure that no one gets left behind during the process of acquiring knowledge and skills.

5. What is your learning process, how do you learn best?
I learn best on my own. I like to be provided with the tools necessary for the job and given the opportunity to mess around with them. I enjoy becoming comfortable with the areas and the technology before starting to learn how to use them properly.

Face Blurring, with the Track Matte Key

I took a video blog that I had saved on the desktop and opened it in premier. I had to use two copies of the video, double layering it. At this point I had to use a third layer of black video. On the black video (which I made transparent) I had to apply a Mosaic blur which pixelated the video. I used a circle to focus in on my face. Once I had done that, I animated the circle to follow my face through out the video I blurred the edges of the circle to make it softer and applied the track matte key, which pixelated everything outside of the circle. I inverted it, and so it only pixelated what was in the circle, providing me with the finished product.

http://library.creativecow.net/articles/devis_andrew/Premiere-Pro-CS6-Basics_97/video-tutorial
Here I used tools such as Radial Shadow and the Roughen Edges effects, in order to give each video a border, an I resized the videos to fit them both in the frame of the video.

Photoshop tutorial 3

Honestly I could have done this way better but I just didn't put the effort into it.

I experimented with the line tool, and the quick layer mask selection tool, and I revisited the drop shadow tool. I also had to merge layers, which I've done before in the past.
I played with the perspective tool as well.
Creating this effect

What is the role of the United States in the world?

The role of the U.S. is to be a world leader, in my opinion. Also, in my opinion, we gave ourselves that role. The U.S. is there to be a model of how countries should have personal freedoms. We've also proven to be almost completely undefeated. We have the role of #1 country.

Principles

What is a Principle?

prin·ci·ple
ˈprinsəpəl/
noun
  1. 1.
a fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning.

Basically what principles are, are mental guidelines that guide your decisions and reasoning for things.

3 personal principles that I use when working are:

1. Being knowledgeable. I need to make sure I know how to do what I'm trying to do.

2. Being sure to make things the best I can produce. I want to say I'm a perfectionist but honestly I don't usually make things as nice as they should be. Not because I don't want to but simply due to the fact that I don't have the level of skill.

3. Getting things done as quickly as possible.
I like to make sure I can get things done in as little time as possible because I am lazy and I really dislike spending a lot of time on work.

Interview Skills

Three Interview skills I was told yesterday include but are not limited to the following:

Dress the part-      Dress nicely and appropriately for the job you're trying for. Appearance is going to be their first judgement of you.

Shake hands-         Shaking hands is very professional  and makes you come off as more professional.

Send a thank you letter-        Sending a thank you letter after an interview shows that you appreciate their time and that you're very interested in joining their business/company

What's important to me?

Fame. Making sure people know who I am. I want people to know me, and what I stand for. With fame and popularity comes power. Power that I can use to support causes and spread my own personal philosophical beliefs. Using that fame and popularity to help people. Making something of my life so that no one can say I didn't go anywhere.  This is important also because I want to be the idol to people that I wish I'd had growing up, someone with genuinely kind intentions and motives. Someone great.

TED Talk Questions (Ken Robinson)

After listening to the talk, answer the following questions:

1.  Who was the presenter?

     The presenter was Ken Robinson.

2.  What was the Title or Subject of the talk?

The subject of the talk was standardized testing and current public education.

3.  What were 3 major points of the presentation?

Kids shouldn't be grouped solely on age
    ADHD is not an epidemic
    Kids are overly stimulated today

4.  What were 3 of your thoughts about the talk?

"wow man, he really knows what he's talking about"
If kids were to be grouped on something other than age, how would we go about reorganizing the entire education system?
More effective teaching methods should be designed and implemented, rather than prescribing ADHD medications to student.

5.  In what way did this talk change you?

I wouldn't say it changed me, considering the fact that I've already seen this talk multiple times, and I already the exact same thoughts as he was explaining. But it's very nice to know that there is someone who people listen to spreading these ideas. I can only hope that people will realize he's right and start to reshape modern education.
